SUMMER 2014 Information Sheet

August 4^th- Some Items of note:

1. Physicals! Powers is having physical exams on Wednesday August 6^th, 6:00 PM. The cost is $20.00 and I suggest if at all possible that everyone goes this Wednesday. Powers will have a record of your exam for the entire year for any sport. You cannot try out for golf without a physical on file at Powers, so this makes it very easy.

2. Tryouts! Tryouts are right around the corner. August 13 & 14 at Flint Golf Club at 7:30 am. If anyone would like to play a practice round before tryouts, Please call FGC 743-6750, or contact me.

3. We need a parent to set up some rooms for the Traverse City Invite on nights of 8-20 & 8-21. (Tournament is 21^stand 22^nd).

4. We need volunteers for the Randy Wise AGJA Tournament being held at FGC on August 18,19,20^th. Flint Golf Club is very generous as we pay NOTHING for the use of the course and range for our season. The Club now needs us to help out, so I expect a good turnout for volunteers on those days. Everyone is expected to volunteer for at least one day.

5. We are still working on the schedule and by the 13^th we should have close to a finished schedule. As usual, our first Varsity Event is the Traverse City Invite ( 8-20 & 8-22) and the following Monday (8-25) is the Charger Invite at FGC.

6. Lindsey McPherson a MSU golfer and former Powers player is playing in this week’s Meijer’s LPGA Classic in Grand Rapids. She was awarded a sponsor’s exemption and will become the first Powers player ever to play in an LPGA Tournament. She has a nice video segment on the MSU website or on You Tube. Please contact me if anyone would like to watch her play.
